No sign up, no contact form, and nothing stored on a server. Here is exactly what that means for your data.

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use btlinsight.co.uk. The short version is that the site is built to collect as little as possible. There is no account to create, no form that sends your details anywhere, and no database holding your information.
BTL Insight is a personal project, run by one person, offering free buy to let tools and information for UK landlords. It is not a company and there is no team behind it. If you have a question about your data or this policy, you can reach me at contact@btlinsight.co.uk.
The calculators and the mortgage fact-find work entirely inside your own browser. When you enter figures, they are saved only to your device using your browser's local storage. They are never sent to me, never sent to a third party, and never written to a server. When you generate a PDF, it is built on your device too. Because nothing leaves your browser, there is no copy of your figures anywhere for me or anyone else to see.
This also means your data lives only on the device you used. If you clear your browser data, or use the "start over" option in a tool, it is gone. On a shared or public computer it is worth clearing it when you finish.
I use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which tools are opened and how many people visit. This helps me decide what to improve. Analytics only runs if you accept it. When you first arrive you see a cookie banner with equal Accept and Reject options. Until you choose Accept, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is sent. If you reject, or simply ignore the banner, the rest of the site still works normally.
Where you do consent, Google acts as my analytics processor. The data is processed with IP anonymisation switched on, and the analytics data is kept for 14 months before it is automatically deleted. I do not use analytics to identify you personally, and I do not combine it with any other information.

Under UK data protection law you have rights over personal data held about you, including the right to access it, correct it, or ask for it to be deleted. Because the figures you enter stay on your own device and I hold no personal records, there is usually nothing for me to retrieve or erase on your behalf. The one area where data is processed is analytics, and only if you have consented. If you have any request or question about your data, email contact@btlinsight.co.uk and I will help. If you are ever unhappy with how your data is handled, you can also contact the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
The site is hosted on Netlify and served over a secure HTTPS connection. As a static information site with no server side storage of your data, there is no personal database that could be breached.
If the site changes in a way that affects your data, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. If a future feature ever sends information to me, this policy will be revised before that feature goes live.
